Trusted bath re-enamelling in Norton

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Norton

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, resurfacing is normally the best value. There’s no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. We regularly repair Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and pressed steel baths, and the jobs we see most are an old resurfacing that’s failing and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Norton. What changes the price is:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The material
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send pictures for a quote

Phone photos are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Make sure they show:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

To get a price, send a couple of pictures using our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Norton

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, and only the surface is worn. The body of the bath is normally perfectly sound.

Look out for these signs:

  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • A coloured bath you want in white

What to look for in a quote

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • How your room will be protected
  • If travel is included in the price

Common questions in Norton

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Norton included. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Do you cover Norton?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Norton and the rest of Nottinghamshire. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Does re-enamelling smell?

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Norton use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

When we would advise against a repair

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays

How to look after the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What we do, step by step

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes most of the day, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
