Bath re-enamelling in Oare

About our bath re-enamelling in Oare

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. We regularly repair acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays, and the jobs we see most are worn patches where water runs and sits and staining under the taps and around the waste.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

The process

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take most of the day. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on

  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The type of damage
  • How much damage there is

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Details of any past repairs

To get a price, send two or three pictures through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Oare questions

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Oare?

Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item with your SN8 postcode.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Will the bath be moved?

No. We resurface it in place, so nothing else is disturbed.

What happens after I send pictures?

We come back with a fixed price. There is no obligation to book.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Repair or replace in Oare?

There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • Work done at your home or business
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
