Bath re-enamelling in Oxon

Bath re-enamelling in Oxon, done in place

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. We are often asked to fix lots of chips and rust spots and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off, in Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Oxon and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

When we would advise against a repair

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a bath usually involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and usually one day, with the bath ready the day after. Prices start from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What you get with us

  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

What we do, step by step

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a full day, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

When to call us in Oxon

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, and only the surface is worn. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is typically as strong as ever.

People usually call us when they notice something like this:

  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • A coating lifting around the plughole

Questions to ask before you book

  • Aftercare advice
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

10 questions to ask before you book

Work for landlords and builders

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Oxon questions

How do I book?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll do the rest.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Is there a smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.

Do you work in Oxon?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Oxon and the rest of Shropshire. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is there any odour?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Which areas do you work in?

Across the UK, so Oxon is covered. Prices do not change with location.
