How we handle bath re-enamelling in Paddock
If your bath is sound but looks tired, re-enamelling is normally the most cost-effective option. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. Common call-outs are for a peeling or bubbling previous coating and an outdated colour you’d like to change, across basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

What happens on the day
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It generally takes most of the day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.
How to prepare
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Questions from Paddock
How long does re-enamelling take?
Generally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.
Is it messy?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.
Is there a smell?
A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
Is a repair better than a new one?
Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.
Do you cover Paddock?
Yes, we do. We send a technician to Paddock for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.
Which areas do you work in?
We work UK-wide, so Paddock is covered. Prices don’t change with location.
What information do you need?
Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
For landlords and businesses
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Paddock as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it generally costs far less than a refit.
We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.
When we’d advise against a repair
Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:
- Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
Surfaces we repair
- Basins & shower trays
- Pressed steel baths
- Acrylic baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Cast iron baths
DIY repairs versus a professional job
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
What else we do in Paddock
What we’re called out for in Paddock
Hard water speeds up the wear, and gritty cleaners are the worst culprits.
Typical reasons for a call-out include:
- A coloured bath you want in white
- Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
- A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
- Worn patches where water runs and sits

Aftercare tips
Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
- Avoid suction-cup mats
- Respect the curing time we give you
The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further.
Different materials, different repairs
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.
