Bath re-enamelling in Penylan, done in place
After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. Common call-outs are for staining under the taps and around the waste and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring, in basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.

Advice
Why repair rather than replace?
Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Penylan. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
What you get with us
- Fixed prices from your photos
- Nothing taken out or refitted
- A year’s guarantee on all work
- Work done at your home or business

Should I try a DIY kit first?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
Common questions in Penylan
Can pets and children be at home?
Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Normally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Can you quote from pictures?
Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.
What happens if you find more damage?
Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. If there is more, we’ll tell you before starting.
Can you change the colour of my bath?
Yes, white is the usual choice. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.
How durable is a resurfaced bath?
That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year.
Do you charge for travel?
Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.
Is there any odour?
There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.
Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.
What bath re-enamelling costs
Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually, from your photos. What matters most is:
- What kind of damage it is
- The colour and finish to match
- Access to the area
- How many items we do on one visit
Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
Quotes from your photos
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:
- A wider photo showing the whole bath
- Something in shot to show the size
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- The material, if you know it
Most clients in Penylan get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
Looking after it afterwards
A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:
- Get any chip repaired quickly
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
- Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
- Fix dripping taps quickly
Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.
Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.
