Bath re-enamelling across Cardiff: what to expect
Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Typical jobs include an outdated colour you’d like to change and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough, in basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths.
On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take most of the day. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.
- First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.
Cost
Prices start from £350. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
What bath re-enamelling costs
Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Cardiff. The price reflects:
- Doing more than one item at once
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- How easy the damage is to reach
- The size and number of damaged areas
No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Quotes from your photos
Two or three clear pictures are typically enough. Try to include:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- Any details about the material
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can give you a fixed price without visiting.
Aftercare tips
How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:
- Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
- Have chips seen to early
Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further.
Should you replace it?
Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it.

For landlords and businesses
Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.
Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
