Bath re-enamelling for Pig Oak homes

About our bath re-enamelling in Pig Oak

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, and we take our time over it. Common call-outs are for staining under the taps and around the waste and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, in acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll sort it.

How to look after the repair

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It normally takes most of the day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

How to prepare

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Should you replace it?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Prices start from £350. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Pig Oak questions

What happens next?

We come back with a fixed price, usually with dates to choose from. You are under no obligation.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. If pictures don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Typically, yes. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send photos.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No, it stays where it is. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.

Our hiring checklist

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Pig Oak. What changes the price is:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The colour and finish to match

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your pictures

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

If you are in Pig Oak and want a price, photos are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
