Bath re-enamelling in Pipe Ridware

Landlord and trade work in Pipe Ridware

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Staffordshire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Pipe Ridware

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. Our technicians work on cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays, and people most frequently call us about a bath in a colour that no longer suits and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we will sort it.

How it works

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will take it from there. Most visits take a full day, tidy-up included.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

How to get a price

Advice

What we can’t put right

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • A bath that is rusted through
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A metal bath with a through crack

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths

Should you replace it?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and typically one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Pipe Ridware. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What you get with us

  • Same prices wherever you are

Common problems we fix in Pipe Ridware

By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Chips and rust in more than one place

What your quote should include

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • How your room will be protected
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

10 questions to ask before you book

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Pipe Ridware questions

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Do you cover the whole of Staffordshire?

We cover the whole UK, including Pipe Ridware and the rest of Staffordshire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will confirm dates.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Have chips seen to early
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.
