When we would advise against a repair

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A bath split right through the body

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Never use suction bath mats

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Priesthill?

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change

10 questions to ask before you book

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

The process

The work is clean and fairly quiet. Protection goes down first, then the work takes most of the day. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Advice

Priesthill questions

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

What affects the price in Priesthill

Resurfacing from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Priesthill. The price comes down to:

  • The type of damage
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The material and finish

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Send photos for a quote

Phone pictures are fine. Just make sure we can see:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • The material, if you know it
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

To get a price, send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

For landlords and businesses

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
