Bath re-enamelling for Racton homes

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • How many areas need work
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The material and finish
  • Doing more than one item at once

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

Send photos for a quote

Before you send photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Any details about the material
  • Something in shot to show the size

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Racton

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. Common call-outs are for worn patches where water runs and sits and chips and rust in more than one place, on Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, so limescale cannot build up.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

When we’d advise against a repair

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on

  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet. We protect the area first, then the work takes a full day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Racton

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

Do the materials smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Do you come to Racton?

We do. Technicians travel to Racton from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We come back with a fixed price, plus dates. There is no obligation to book.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Racton

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

DIY kit or professional repair?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the whole room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing typically wins. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

What you get with us

  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
