About our bath re-enamelling in Rainham

Resurfacing renews the entire surface of the bath without taking anything out. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. Our technicians work on cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths, and common reasons people contact us are a coating lifting around the plughole and thin, worn enamel in places.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee.

How the visit works

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes the best part of a day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Advice

Landlords, agents and businesses in Rainham

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we will handle the rest.

Why repair rather than replace?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Prices start from £350. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why book with us

Common questions in Rainham

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • Access to the area
  • The material
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.
