Common questions in Red Rock

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

How soon can you come?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Will the new finish last?

Look after it and it lasts. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send pictures.

Do you charge for travel?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we’ll quote them together.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Red Rock

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. Common call-outs are for chips and rust in more than one place and an old resurfacing that’s failing, on pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Send photos for a quote

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what to send:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A picture taken from further back
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Email us pictures of the damage and one of the whole item, with your WN1 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Red Rock

In hard water areas, limescale and the cleaning it needs wear enamel faster, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

For landlords and businesses

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we will handle the rest.

The process

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes the best part of a day. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s generally ready the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why us?

  • Colour-matched on site
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

What we cannot put right

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.
