Need bath re-enamelling in Ringwell?

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

Bath re-enamelling in Ringwell without replacing anything

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Common call-outs are for thin, worn enamel in places and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it, on Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and pressed steel baths.

You’re covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Ringwell: your questions answered

Do you work in Ringwell?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Ringwell. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Do you charge for travel?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

What happens after I send photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Generally, yes. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Repairing versus replacing in Ringwell

A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing gives the bath a new finish without moving it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why book with us

  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Colour-matched on site

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, particularly with hard water, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Ringwell

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Ringwell use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll handle the rest.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. We price every job individually, from your photos. The main factors are:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material and finish

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

How to get a fixed quote

Two or three clear pictures are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and no obligation.

What we do, step by step

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. On site, it takes the best part of a day for most jobs. We leave the room clean.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the following day.

How to prepare

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Get a quote

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Advice

When we would advise against a repair

We won’t take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • A bath split right through the body
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.
