Bath re-enamelling in Riverside without replacing anything
We re-enamel a lot of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. We’re often asked to fix a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off, across pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.
Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Riverside and across Cardiff.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
Cast iron
Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.
When a repair is not the answer
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
- Steel that has corroded right through
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

What we are called out for in Riverside
In hard water areas, limescale and the cleaning it needs wear enamel faster, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.
Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:
- A coloured bath you want in white
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
- Lots of chips and rust spots
- Worn patches where water runs and sits

How we price bath re-enamelling
Prices start from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Riverside. The price depends on:
- The type of damage
- How hard the colour is to match
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking, with nothing added on the day.
How to get a fixed price
Before you send photos, a few simple things make all the difference:
- Any details about the material
- One picture of the entire bath
- Where you are, by postcode
- One sharp close-up of the damage
Send us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your CF11 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.
Why repair rather than replace?
Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing renews the whole surface without moving it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Riverside. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

What we do, step by step
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It normally takes the best part of a day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.
How to prepare
- Open a window if you can
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
How to get a price
There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.
Related advice
Can I fix it myself?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
Looking after it afterwards
Nothing complicated is needed:
- Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.
Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
