Bath re-enamelling & resurfacing in Roath, Cardiff
We travel to Roath for full bath re-enamelling and resurfacing. Everything is done in place, and the work is guaranteed.
- Resurfacing from £350
- Thin, worn enamel in places
- A bath that stays dull however much you clean it

Should I try a DIY kit first?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
How we handle bath re-enamelling in Roath
Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. Common call-outs are for several chips and rust patches and worn patches where water runs and sits, in basins & shower trays, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops.
We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
How to look after the repair
Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:
- Keep suction mats out of the bath
- Get any chip repaired quickly
- Repair dripping taps early
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.
Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
Repair or replace: which is better?
If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Prices start from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How it works
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It normally takes most of the day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the following day.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know about parking or access
- Have a window or extractor fan available
- Clear the area around the damage
Ask for a price

When we’d advise against a repair

Roath questions
Can a failed resurfacing be redone?
Usually, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
How long does re-enamelling last?
That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.
Will the price change on the day?
We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.
Will the bath be moved?
No. We resurface it in place, so nothing else is disturbed.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.
Are you a vetted contractor?
We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.
How long does re-enamelling take?
Generally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

What bath re-enamelling costs
Prices start from £350. We give every job a fixed price from photos. This is what makes a difference:
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- What the surface is made of
- Doing more than one item at once
- How much damage there is
Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
Getting a price from photos
Two or three clear photos are generally enough. It helps if you send:
- Where you are, by postcode
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- Natural light rather than flash
Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job without visiting.
