Landlord and trade work in Rode

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Somerset and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

Bath re-enamelling in Rode, done in place

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, re-enamelling is typically the most cost-effective option. There’s no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. We work on acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops, and people most frequently call us about wear marks under the taps and staining under the taps and around the waste.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take the best part of a day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can typically be used the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

How to care for the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Fix dripping taps quickly

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

When we’d advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Repairing versus replacing in Rode

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

FAQs for Rode

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. There is no area surcharge for Rode. What changes the price is:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Quotes from your photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.
