Bath re-enamelling near Salton

Landlords, agents and businesses in Salton

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Salton

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without taking anything out. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. Our technicians work on basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths, and common reasons people get in touch are a peeling or bubbling previous coating and a bath in a colour that no longer suits.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Salton and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

What affects the price in Salton

Resurfacing from £350. There is no charge for travel to Salton. The price comes down to:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a fixed price

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A picture taken from further back

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

Common questions in Salton

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Typically one day, with the bath ready the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Will the new finish last?

Look after it and it lasts. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Can tenants book a repair?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

Should you replace it?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is normally much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s much quicker too. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing

What we do, step by step

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take most of the day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

When we’d advise against a repair

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Steel that has corroded right through

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Salton

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

The things clients generally mention when they call are:

  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it

What your quote should include

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • When it can be used again
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
