Bath re-enamelling in Scalby without replacing anything

We do not move the bath, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. It typically takes one visit, and can be used again the next day. If you are dealing with several chips and rust patches and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it, we can generally put it right, whatever the material.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Before and after: an old basin refinished to bright white

Honest limits

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays

FAQs for Scalby

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Scalby. Our prices are the same everywhere.

How long is the bath unusable?

Typically a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Do you cover Scalby?

We do. Technicians travel to Scalby from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Can you quote from photos?

Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Can tenants book a repair?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Have chips seen to early

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

How it works

Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes most of the day, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Advice

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Resurfacing gives the bath a new finish without moving it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Scalby

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in North Yorkshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.
