What a repair cannot fix

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Seabridge

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without taking anything out. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. If you are dealing with an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean, we can normally put it right, on acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays alike.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Seabridge and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Seabridge. The price comes down to:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How many areas need work
  • Access to the area

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Quotes from your photos

Two or three clear pictures are generally enough. Try to include:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A photo taken from further back
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures using our quote form or call us. We’ll say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

For landlords and businesses

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit.

Why repair rather than replace?

A replacement frequently means several trades over several days. Re-enamelling is one technician, normally one day, with the bath back in use the following day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Seabridge

  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Fixed prices from your photos

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Questions from Seabridge

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Stoke-on-Trent.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

How long will the bath be out of use?

One day for most baths, ready the next day. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

Do you work in Seabridge?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Seabridge and the rest of Stoke-on-Trent. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.

How it works

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes a full day, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Let us know about parking or access

Ask for a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Advice

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Seabridge?

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. That is the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • Wear marks under the taps

What your quote should include

  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • Who turns up on the day
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • What preparation is included

Our hiring checklist

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Repair dripping taps early

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, so limescale cannot build up.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
