Bath re-enamelling near Sheet

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Sheet

If your bath is sound but looks tired, resurfacing is normally the best value. There’s no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. Our technicians work on pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths, and people most frequently call us about chips and rust in more than one place and a coloured bath you want in white.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Sheet questions

Do the materials smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Do you work in Sheet?

We do. Technicians travel to Sheet from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You’ll get a fixed quote back, usually with dates to choose from. You’re under no obligation.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Usually a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.

What we cannot put right

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Keeping it looking good

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath usually involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, with the bath ready the next day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why Sheet customers choose us

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year

Take a look at our pricing and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Work for landlords and builders

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Hampshire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Common problems we fix in Sheet

By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

What to look for in a quote

  • When it can be used again
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • How to care for the finish
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

The process

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which generally takes the best part of a day. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Before we arrive

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
