Bath re-enamelling near Snape

About our bath re-enamelling in Snape

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. We regularly repair Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths, and common reasons people get in touch are stains that won’t shift and chips and rust in more than one place.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Before and after: an old basin refinished to bright white

The process

You do not need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. It typically takes the best part of a day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

How to get a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Snape

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

When a repair is not the answer

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What affects the price in Snape

Prices start from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Snape. The price comes down to:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The type of damage
  • The material

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Snape. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • The material, if you know it
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos using our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Will the price change on the day?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. We resurface it in place, so nothing else is disturbed.

Is there a smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Snape

The gloss on enamel is thin, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.

  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
