Do you need bath re-enamelling in Snodhill?

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • Wear marks under the taps
  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A coating lifting around the plughole

About our bath re-enamelling in Snodhill

The bath stays where it is, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. It normally takes one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. We are frequently asked to fix a bath in a colour that no longer suits and an old resurfacing that’s failing, across acrylic baths, cast iron baths and Victorian roll-tops.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

How the visit works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes most of the day. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.

Advice

Work for landlords and builders

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send photos, the address and how to get access.

What a repair can’t fix

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Why repair rather than replace?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why us?

  • Work done at your home or business
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • No need to remove anything
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple:

  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
