Bath re-enamelling at your home in Solva

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. If you are dealing with a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and thin, worn enamel in places, we can normally put it right, whatever the material.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee.

Repair or replace in Solva?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Prices start from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Solva. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What you get with us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • No need to remove anything
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Same prices wherever you are

What happens on the day

Arrival times are agreed in advance. Once we’re there, the work takes a full day for most jobs. The room is left tidy and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Solva: your questions answered

What happens if you find more damage?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. If there is more, we will tell you before starting.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send photos.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Solva?

Prices start from £350. We give a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up and a picture of the whole item and your postcode.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

How long does re-enamelling last?

It depends on preparation, use and care. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Solva?

Previous coatings can fail too, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

Most people contact us after spotting one of these:

  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

Questions to ask before you book

  • How your room will be protected
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • How long it needs to cure
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

Choosing a repair company

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • The material
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Access to the area

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

How to get a fixed price

You can take the photos on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Send us pictures of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you are in Solva, and we will reply with a fixed price.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

What we cannot put right

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse off any bath products.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further.
