Bath re-enamelling in Southbrook without replacing anything

A re-enamelled bath looks and feels like a new one, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. We are often asked to fix stains that won’t shift and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, across basins & shower trays, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll come back.

How the visit works

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes most of the day. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Before we arrive

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. You will know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • The material and finish
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Send pictures for a quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures using our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

What we are called out for in Southbrook

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. That is the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Stains that will not shift

What to look for in a quote

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • How the colour is matched
  • Whether a trained technician does the job

Work for landlords and builders

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Why repair rather than replace?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Prices start from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

What you get with us

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

What a repair can’t fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.
