Bath re-enamelling in Southend-on-Sea

Common problems we fix in Southend-on-Sea

The gloss on enamel is thin, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Stains that won’t shift

Bath re-enamelling in Southend-on-Sea, done in place

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. Common call-outs are for a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and a coating lifting around the plughole, on acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths.

Every job is backed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

When a repair is not the answer

A repair is not always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Should you replace it?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Common questions in Southend-on-Sea

How long does re-enamelling take?

Most baths are done in a day, ready the next day. We give you timings with the quote.

Do you need to take the bath out?

Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Southend-on-Sea included. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Are there extra charges for Southend-on-Sea?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

What happens if you find more damage?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

How to look after the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and do not leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

The process

We turn up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take most of the day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Before we arrive

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
