Bath re-enamelling in Southwark

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Fix dripping taps quickly

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Bath re-enamelling in Southwark without replacing anything

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. We work on Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths, and people most frequently call us about worn patches where water runs and sits and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Southwark questions

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. The rest of the house is unaffected.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, most people go for white. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Resurfacing from £350. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You will get a fixed figure before you book.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many items we do on one visit

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Quotes from your pictures

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A picture taken from further back
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Allow the best part of a day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to care for it.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Repair or replace in Southwark?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Resurfacing renews the whole surface with the bath left where it is. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair normally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

For landlords and businesses

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.
