Trusted bath re-enamelling in Aldgate

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Aldgate

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. We regularly repair acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops, and common reasons people get in touch are an old resurfacing that’s failing and several chips and rust patches.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

FAQs for Aldgate

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

What happens after I send photos?

We come back with a fixed quote. You’re under no obligation.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Do you need to take the bath out?

Not at all. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.

Which areas do you work in?

All of Greater London, and the rest of the UK. There is no extra charge for travel.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send pictures.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

How it works

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job normally takes a full day. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Open a window if you can

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Have chips seen to early

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

When a repair is not the answer

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • A bath that is rusted through
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths

For landlords and businesses

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Aldgate?

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough

Questions to ask before you book

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • What prep work is covered

How to compare quotes

Repairing versus replacing in Aldgate

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, usually one day, and the bath is usable the day after. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.
