Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple:

  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Never use suction bath mats

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Bath re-enamelling in Porthilly, done in place

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. Our repair technicians work on pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths, and the jobs we see most are stains that won’t shift and worn patches where water runs and sits.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • Access to the area
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What kind of damage it is

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

How to get a fixed price

You can typically get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One picture of the entire bath

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can price the job.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

For landlords and businesses

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Cornwall and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

What we cannot put right

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we repair

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the entire room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Prices start from £350. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

What you get with us

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • One visit for most repairs

Read our pricing or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

What happens on the day

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take a full day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.
