Trusted bath re-enamelling in St Agnes

Bath re-enamelling in St Agnes, done in place

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. We work on Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays, and common reasons people contact us are a coating lifting around the plughole and an outdated colour you’d like to change.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Repair or replace in St Agnes?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the whole surface without moving it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with nothing added on the day.

When a repair isn’t the answer

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Holes rusted through the metal

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. It usually takes the best part of a day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the following day.

How to prepare

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Advice

Work for landlords and builders

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in St Agnes as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

When to call us in St Agnes

In hard water areas, limescale and the cleaning it needs wear enamel faster, and gritty cleaners are the worst culprits.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change

Questions to ask before booking

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • If travel is included in the price
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

How to compare quotes

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in St Agnes

How long does re-enamelling take?

Most baths are done in a day, ready the day after. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in St Agnes?

Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a picture of the whole item and your postcode.

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

Look after it and it lasts. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

What information do you need?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured

Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
