Bath re-enamelling in St Clement's without replacing anything
Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. We regularly repair pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths, and common reasons people get in touch are wear marks under the taps and stains that won’t shift.
All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

FAQs for St Clement's
Do you cover St Clement's?
Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to St Clement's and the rest of Oxfordshire. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
What happens after I send photos?
We look at the photos and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.
What happens if you find more damage?
We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.
How do I book?
Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.
Are you accredited?
We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.
How long will the bath be out of use?
Typically one day, with the bath ready the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.
Will there be a smell?
A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.
Repair or replace in St Clement's?
A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the whole surface without moving it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
What you get with us

DIY kit or professional repair?
What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
How it works
Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. It normally takes most of the day, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.
Before we arrive
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Ensure the room can be ventilated
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
Getting a price
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
Related advice
Looking after it afterwards
Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
- Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.
What bath re-enamelling costs
Prices start from £350. Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:
- Doing more than one item at once
- Unusual colours or finishes
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- How much damage there is
Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for St Clement's. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
How to get a fixed quote
We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- A wider photo showing the entire bath
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
What a repair can’t fix
We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:
- A bath that’s rusted through
- A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
- Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.
What we work on
- Victorian roll-tops
- Pressed steel baths
- Acrylic baths
- Cast iron baths
- Basins & shower trays
Signs you need bath re-enamelling in St Clement's
Enamel does not fail overnight. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths wear the gloss away, starting where water runs and sits.
If you can see any of these, send us a photo:
- A roll-top that’s seen better days
- Thin, worn enamel in places
- A coloured bath you want in white
- Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
What your quote should include
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- What protection goes down before work starts
- Aftercare advice
- How the colour is matched

Repairs by material
Acrylic
Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.
Pressed steel
Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.
