When we would advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we work on in St Helier

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Bath re-enamelling in St Helier without replacing anything

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we don’t cut corners on it. We regularly repair cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and pressed steel baths, and the jobs we see most are a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and thin, worn enamel in places.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Have chips seen to early
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Avoid suction-cup mats

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, so limescale cannot build up.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Landlord and trade work in St Helier

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Common questions in St Helier

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Will there be fumes?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Do you cover the whole of Greater London?

Everywhere in the UK, St Helier included. Travel is included in the price.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

How long does re-enamelling take?

One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We will confirm timings when we quote.

What we’re called out for in St Helier

Frequently the bath has just had decades of use, and only the surface is worn. The body of the bath is normally perfectly sound.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring

Our hiring checklist

Repair or replace in St Helier?

Replacing a bath usually involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and generally one day, with the bath ready the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Why us?

  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Same prices wherever you are

Take a look at our prices page or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

How the visit works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take a full day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
