Bath re-enamelling in St Ive

Bath re-enamelling at your home in St Ive

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. Common call-outs are for a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and several chips and rust patches, in acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee.

When we would advise against a repair

We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A bath split right through the body

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths

How to look after the repair

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Have chips seen to early

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

St Ive questions

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Will there be fumes?

Yes, while we’re applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

What happens next?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, most people go for white. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

In most cases. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send pictures.

Work for landlords and builders

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip.

The process

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes most of the day. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Get a quote

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.

When to call us in St Ive

Enamel wears gradually. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths wear the gloss away, usually first under the taps and around the waste.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
  • A coating lifting around the plughole

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • How your room will be protected
  • How to look after the finish

10 questions to ask before booking

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Repair or replace in St Ive?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the entire surface without moving it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • Everything repaired in place
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Colour-matched on site

What affects the price in St Ive

Prices start from £350. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How many items we do on one visit

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your photos

You can take the photos on your phone. Just ensure we can see:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A photo taken from further back
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Most customers in St Ive get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
