Bath re-enamelling in Stobhill without replacing anything
After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. Common call-outs are for a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and chips and rust in more than one place, on cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

For landlords and businesses
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
For anyone letting property in or around Stobhill, we will quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we’ll price them together.
When a repair isn’t the answer
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:
- A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
- A bath that’s rusted through
Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.
Surfaces we repair
- Basins & shower trays
- Cast iron baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Pressed steel baths
- Acrylic baths
Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Questions from Stobhill
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Can you do the outside of a roll-top?
Yes. We can do the inside and outside.
Will you leave a mess?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.
Does someone need to be in?
Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.
Do you need to take the bath out?
No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.
Which areas do you work in?
We work UK-wide, so Stobhill is covered. Prices don’t change with location.
Is there any odour?
Expect a mild smell while we’re working.
Is there a smell?
Yes, while we are applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.
Should you replace it?
A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Prices start from £350. A repair normally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Can I fix it myself?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Looking after it afterwards
So the finish stays in good condition:
- Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
- Keep suction mats out of the bath
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.
Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.
