Bath re-enamelling in The Platt

About our bath re-enamelling in The Platt

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. Our repair technicians work on pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and Victorian roll-tops, and people most frequently call us about wear marks under the taps and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

What we do, step by step

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a full day. If anything looks different from your pictures, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Common questions in The Platt

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Normally, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Do you come to The Platt?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to The Platt and the rest of Kent. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole bath and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, we often do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Kent.

When to call us in The Platt

Older baths frequently have several problems at once: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Stains that won’t shift
  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits

Choosing a repair company

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What you get with us

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Fixed prices from your photos

When a repair is not the answer

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
