Repairing versus replacing in The Row
Replacing a bath typically involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and generally one day, with the bath ready the following day. Prices start from £350. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.
Why us?
- Honest advice, even when it means no job
- Rooms protected and left tidy

Bath re-enamelling in The Row without replacing anything
After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we do not cut corners on it. We regularly repair acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths, and people most frequently call us about lots of chips and rust spots and an old resurfacing that’s failing.
Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

DIY repairs versus a professional job
A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
What we’re called out for in The Row
Enamel does not fail overnight. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use wear the gloss away, usually first under the taps and around the waste.
The most common problems we are called about are:
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
- Thin, worn enamel in places
- Chips and rust in more than one place
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
Questions to ask before you book
- How changes to the job are handled
- Who will actually do the work
- How your room will be protected

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in The Row
Do you cover the whole of Lancashire?
Across the UK. Our prices are the same everywhere.
What happens after I send pictures?
We come back with a fixed quote, usually with dates to choose from. You’re under no obligation.
What information do you need?
Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
Is there any odour?
There can be some smell while we work. It fades as everything cures.
Can you quote from pictures?
In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.
Will there be fumes?
Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.
Different materials, different repairs
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
Keeping it looking good
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
- Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
- Get any chip repaired quickly
Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse away any product left on the surface.
Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
How it works
Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a full day. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.
- First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
- Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
- The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
- We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
- The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.
Preparing for the visit
- Have a window or extractor fan available
- Clear the area around the damage
- Point us to the nearest place to park
Ask for a price
For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
Advice
What we cannot put right
In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:
- A metal bath with a through crack
- Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
- Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.
Materials we work on in The Row
- Pressed steel baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Basins & shower trays
- Acrylic baths
- Cast iron baths
For landlords and businesses
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.
