Different materials, different repairs
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
Pressed steel
Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.
About our bath re-enamelling in Thorpe Willoughby
If your bath is sound but looks tired, resurfacing is normally the best value. There’s no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. We work on acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays, and the jobs we see most are worn patches where water runs and sits and staining under the taps and around the waste.
All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Thorpe Willoughby and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

How we price bath re-enamelling
Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:
- How easy the damage is to reach
- What kind of damage it is
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- Unusual colours or finishes
Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.
Getting a price from pictures
Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Any details about the material
- One picture of the whole bath
There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

What else we do in Thorpe Willoughby
Should I try a DIY kit first?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

What we cannot put right
It helps to know what we cannot do too:
- Steel that has corroded right through
- Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Common questions in Thorpe Willoughby
What information do you need?
Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
How quickly can you book me in?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.
Is there a call-out fee?
There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.
Will there be fumes?
There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.
Will you leave a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Generally, yes. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send pictures.

Why repair rather than replace?
When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Nothing else is disturbed. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

- Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.

- The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

How to care for the repair
Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
- Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
- A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.
Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.
