Bath re-enamelling at your home in Chapel Haddlesey

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. We work on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops, and common reasons people contact us are worn patches where water runs and sits and a coloured bath you want in white.

Every job is backed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, so limescale cannot build up.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

What we cannot put right

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

How it works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes a full day. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the day after.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • What the surface is made of
  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How many items we do on one visit

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Getting a price from pictures

You can take the pictures on your phone. Just make sure we can see:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Chapel Haddlesey questions

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Chapel Haddlesey?

Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed price based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item and your postcode.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Do you cover Chapel Haddlesey?

We do. Technicians travel to Chapel Haddlesey from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

How long is the bath unusable?

Normally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

What happens if you find more damage?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Repairing versus replacing in Chapel Haddlesey

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
