Bath re-enamelling for Walton homes

What we do, step by step

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Allow the best part of a day. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to care for it.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s normally ready the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

How to get a price

About our bath re-enamelling in Walton

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we do not cut corners on it. We regularly repair cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and pressed steel baths, and people most frequently call us about a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and an outdated colour you’d like to change.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

For landlords and businesses

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. You will know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How much damage there is

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

Upload photos of the damage and one of the entire item, with your HP21 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

FAQs for Walton

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. Inside and out.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Do you cover the entire of Buckinghamshire?

We cover the whole UK, including Walton and the rest of Buckinghamshire. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.

What happens next?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Normally one day, with the bath ready the next day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

What a repair can’t fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A bath split right through the body
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we work on in Walton

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths

Should you replace it?

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
