About our bath re-enamelling in Well Head

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. Whether it’s a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring, we can generally put it right, on Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths alike.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. We price every job individually, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How many areas need work
  • The type of damage
  • The material

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Send photos for a quote

You can normally get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job without visiting.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

The process

There is not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will take it from there. Most visits take the best part of a day, including clearing up.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Well Head: your questions answered

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners in Well Head.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Resurfacing from £350. Every job gets a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item and your postcode.

What happens after I send photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there is more, we will tell you before starting.

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
