Bath re-enamelling in Yatts

What affects the price in Yatts

Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. These are the things that affect it:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How much damage there is
  • What kind of damage it is

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Getting a price from pictures

Phone pictures are fine. Ensure they show:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Send us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, and tell us you are in Yatts, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Bath re-enamelling in Yatts, done in place

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. Common call-outs are for a bath in a colour that no longer suits and chips and rust in more than one place, in Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and pressed steel baths.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee.

What happens on the day

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take most of the day. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Advice

Why repair rather than replace?

There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why us?

  • Same prices wherever you are
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

See our pricing and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

How to care for the repair

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Store bottles off the bath

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Landlord and trade work in Yatts

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

When to call us in Yatts

Older baths frequently have several problems at once: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Re-enamelling deals with all of them in one go.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring

Before booking anyone

  • Who turns up on the day
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • What happens if they find more damage

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Yatts: your questions answered

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we will quote them together.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

What information do you need?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Will the bath be moved?

No. We resurface it in place, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Do you charge for travel?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, frequently. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
