When we’d advise against a repair

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic

About our bath repair in Anderton

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. Whether it’s chips along the edge of the bath and a cracked acrylic bath, we can help, on pressed steel enamel, acrylic and whirlpool & spa baths alike.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take two to three hours for most chips, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Advice

Common problems we fix in Anderton

Rust tends to begin where water collects, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • A kit repair that didn’t last

What your quote should include

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • How your room will be protected
  • Who will actually do the work

10 questions to ask before you book

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath without abrasive products.

Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. There’s no area surcharge for Anderton. What changes the price is:

  • How many areas need work
  • The material
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

How to get a fixed price

You can take the photos on your phone. Just make sure we can see:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Repairing versus replacing in Anderton

People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Generally it doesn’t: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Why us?

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
