How we handle bath repair in Ash

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. A repair stops both. Our technicians work on roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel, and the jobs we see most are scratches you can feel with a fingernail and cracks in an acrylic bath.

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee.

How the visit works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. On site, it takes a few hours. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Repair or replace in Ash?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the entire surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Our bath repair starts from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why Ash clients choose us

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • One price list for the entire UK
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

FAQs for Ash

What do you need from me?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

Is a bath repair durable?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

What areas do you cover?

The entire UK, including all of Somerset. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will offer you dates.

How soon can you come?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

When we’d advise against a repair

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Keeping it looking good

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and it can start to leak underneath.

Work for landlords and builders

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Ash use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Access to the area
  • What kind of damage it is

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear photos are usually enough. Try to include:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.
