Trusted bath repair in Ash

Bath repair at your home in Ash

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We’re often asked to fix chips caused by builders and cracks in an acrylic bath, across acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

What we do, step by step

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes two to three hours for most chips, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can normally use the bath the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The type of damage
  • What the surface is made of
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Ash. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Our bath repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

What you get with us

  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • No extra charge for your area
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating

There is nothing special to do after a repair, beyond gentle cleaning. Skip bleach and gritty creams.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so it pays to deal with it early.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Ash: your questions answered

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

What information do you need?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we’ll do the rest.

Do you cover Ash?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Ash from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Often, if there is access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Is a bath repair permanent?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes, we match coloured baths too. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Ash

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll arrange it.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

When to call us in Ash

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and building work is a common culprit. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: the bath is not properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

The things clients typically mention when they call include:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • A chip where the taps sit

What to look for in a quote

  • How soon you can use it again
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • Who turns up on the day
  • What preparation is included
