Bath repair in Bathampton

Landlord and trade work in Bathampton

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Bath repair in Bathampton without replacing anything

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Common call-outs are for chips along the edge of the bath and impact holes in acrylic, across pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water cannot get in. Remove it before the repair.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • A steel bath rusted through

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

What we are called out for in Bathampton

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On steel and cast iron baths, any chip down to the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:

  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Holes from dropped items
  • A chip where the taps sit

Before booking anyone

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • What happens if they find more damage

10 questions to ask before you book

The process

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. Most visits take two to three hours for most chips, including clearing up.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have a window or extractor fan available

  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Advice

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • What the surface is made of
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed price

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Any details about the material

For a price in Bathampton, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
