About our bath repair in Belcher's Bar
A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. Whether it’s deep scratches in acrylic and chips caused by builders, we can typically put it right, on acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel alike.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Keeping it looking good
A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:
- Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Store metal items away from the bath
- Rinse it down after each bath
Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.
Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
When a repair is not the answer
In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
- Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Questions from Belcher's Bar
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.
How do I get a price for bath repair in Belcher's Bar?
Repairs from £95. Every job gets a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your LE67 postcode.
I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?
Yes, we do this often. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.
Will I be able to see the repair?
On a bath in good condition, a colour matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.
Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?
Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before.
Will it make a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.
What areas do you cover?
Across the UK, so Belcher's Bar is covered. Prices don’t change with location.
Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?
Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.
Landlord and trade work in Belcher's Bar
Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.
Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
Should you replace it?
Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Common problems we fix in Belcher's Bar
Most bath damage comes from something dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal lets water in, and rust follows.
If you can see any of these, send us a photo:
- Holes from dropped items
- Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
- Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
- Deep scratches in acrylic

The process
Once we are through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes a few hours, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
Preparing for the visit
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Point us to the nearest place to park
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
How to get a price
To get a price, send two or three photos through our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.
Advice
Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
