Need bath repair in Belmont?

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take two to three hours for most chips, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Advice

Bath repair at your home in Belmont

Most of our bath repairs take a few hours, and the bath is back in use the day after. There is no need to book a plumber or tiler, because nothing is disconnected. We work on whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are hairline or through cracks in acrylic and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Belmont. The price reflects:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What kind of damage it is
  • What the surface is made of

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Getting a price from pictures

You can take the pictures on your phone. Just ensure we can see:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A photo taken from further back

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. There is no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Common questions in Belmont

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Usually the next day. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Can you redo an old repair?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Mention it when you send pictures.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

How to look after the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

Repairing versus replacing in Belmont

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: tiles along the rim normally crack when it comes out, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

What we are called out for in Belmont

Rust tends to begin where water collects, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic

Comparing quotes

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

Our hiring checklist

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

When we would advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.
