Bath repair at your home in Bix

Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a smooth, solid repair that blends in. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. Our technicians work on whirlpool & spa baths, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel, and the jobs we see most are an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and damage beneath the taps.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Bix. What changes the price is:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The size and number of damaged areas

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Bix. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

Phone photos are fine. Just ensure we can see:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Any details about the material

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

What we are called out for in Bix

A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: bottles, shower heads and razors are dropped every day, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Over time, chips and rust spots are almost inevitable.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Chips caused by builders
  • A chip where the taps sit

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether the price covers travel
  • How your room will be protected
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • How long it needs to cure

How to compare quotes

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

What happens on the day

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you’re not left guessing. On site, it takes two to three hours for most chips in most cases. We leave the room clean and you will know when it can be used.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

How to prepare

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Getting a price

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Take it off before we arrive.

Your questions about bath repair in Bix

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Do you charge for travel?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Can you price it without visiting?

Typically, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Often, if there is access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Can pets and children be at home?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

How long before I can use the bath?

Most baths can be used the following day. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Repairing versus replacing in Bix

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. Normally it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What you get with us

  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.
