Bath repair in Bogside, done in place

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, typically in a single visit. We regularly repair whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and acrylic, and people most frequently call us about scuffs and scratches in the surface and holes from dropped items.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Before and after: a chipped, rust-stained bath around the plughole

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the entire surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

Why us?

  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Work done at your home or business
  • No need to remove anything
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures

See our prices page and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Work for landlords and builders

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

When a repair is not the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

FAQs for Bogside

Are there extra charges for Bogside?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Normally, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a photo.

Can you redo an old repair?

Yes, we do this frequently. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

Our hiring checklist

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a few hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

How to prepare

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Getting a price

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos through our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Advice

How to care for the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.
