Bath repair in Cartledge, done in place
Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, typically in a single visit. Whether it’s scratches you can feel with a fingernail and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, we can help, whatever the material.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Cartledge: your questions answered
Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?
Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including pastel and older colours.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.
Is a repair better than a new one?
In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. The rest of the house is unaffected.
How invisible is a bath repair?
On a bath in good condition, a colour matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.
Do you come to Cartledge?
Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Cartledge and the rest of Derbyshire. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
What information do you need?
A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.
When can I have a bath again?
Most baths can be used the next day. We confirm the time before we leave.
When a repair is not the answer
We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:
- A steel bath rusted through
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.
What we work on
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Cast iron enamel
- Acrylic
- Pressed steel enamel
- Roll-top & freestanding
Repair or replace: which is better?
When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Our bath repair starts from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Common problems we fix in Cartledge
Acrylic baths that crack nearly always have a support problem. Loose legs, no proper cradle or a floor that gives let the base flex.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- Chips on the rim or sides
- A kit repair that didn’t last
- Chips caused by builders
- Cracks in an acrylic bath

Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.
Acrylic
Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
Work for landlords and builders
Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Cartledge use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.
The process
You don’t need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and you can get on with other things while we are there.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.
Getting ready for the visit
- Keep a parking space free if you can
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Let us know about parking or access

Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:
- What kind of damage it is
- How easy the damage is to reach
- The size and number of damaged areas
- Unusual colours or finishes
It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.
Getting a price from pictures
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Something in shot to show the size
Upload a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your S18 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

DIY kit or professional repair?
What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
