Need bath repair in Chinese Quarter?

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Chinese Quarter. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed quote

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

How we handle bath repair in Chinese Quarter

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the following day. We regularly repair whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and pressed steel enamel, and the jobs we see most are a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and damage beneath the taps.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in Chinese Quarter and across Birmingham.

What happens on the day

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes two to three hours for most chips. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Open a window if you can

Advice

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Repair or replace in Chinese Quarter?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. A repair deals only with the damage in a single visit. Prices start from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

For landlords and businesses

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will arrange it.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

What we can’t put right

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

How to compare quotes

Chinese Quarter questions

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

What do you need from me?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

What areas do you cover?

We cover the entire UK, including Chinese Quarter and the rest of Birmingham. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

How invisible is a bath repair?

On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders across Birmingham.

How much does bath repair cost in Chinese Quarter?

Prices start from £95. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.
